A More Gentle Way of Caring: Extending the Life of What We Wear
Caring for your clothes isn’t about perfection. It’s about forming a gentle rhythm in your everyday life, one that reflects appreciation rather than excess. When we look after what we have, we honour the materials, the craftsmanship and the stories woven into each piece.
And perhaps most importantly — we create a wardrobe that feels calm, intentional and beautifully lived in.
There is something quietly meaningful about caring for the clothes we wear every day. Not in a grand, time-consuming way, but through small gestures; brushing a wool jumper, airing a favourite shirt, choosing a gentler wash. These moments may feel subtle, almost invisible, yet they carry a surprising weight.
According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, extending the life of a garment by just nine months can reduce its carbon, water and waste footprint by up to 30%. It’s one of the simplest, most accessible ways any of us can lessen our impact, not by doing more, but by doing "less": washing less, replacing less, discarding less.
A Scandinavian Way of Thinking
In the Nordics, we tend to build our wardrobes slowly and intentionally. Fewer pieces, better quality, worn in different ways across the seasons. This mindset isn’t about restraint — it’s about ease. When you value what you already own, caring for it feels natural rather than necessary.
Studio Care was born from this way of living: a belief that the everyday rituals around laundry and garment care should be uncomplicated, functional and quietly pleasurable. Your products reflect that vision — plant-based laundry sheets, recyclable packaging, no microplastics, no harsh chemicals — simple choices that align with a gentler lifestyle.
The Beauty of Looking After What You Have
Most garments don’t require much to stay beautiful. A short rest between wears. A steam instead of a wash. A quick treatment of a small stain so it doesn’t become a reason to discard something you love. These tiny acts accumulate over time, allowing a jumper, a dress or even a basic T-shirt to stay in your rotation for years.
When our clothes last longer, something else happens too:
We start to buy with more intention.
We feel less pressure to replace.
We create less waste — and less demand for new materials, new resources, new production.
It’s a ripple effect that begins in the quiet corners of our homes.

A Laundry Care Guide - Easy Wash / Easy Life
With a few thoughtful steps, you can clean your clothes more effectively while keeping them in good condition for as long as possible.
1. Prepare Before You Wash
Sort your laundry by colour, fabric type and how soiled it is. This helps prevent colour transfer and reduces abrasion. Then check the care label so you know exactly what the garment can handle.
2. Choose the Right Settings
Lower temperatures are often just as effective and much gentler. For delicate pieces, opt for a gentle cycle, fewer rotations, less stress on the fibres, better results in the long run.
3. Detergent & Machine Load
Use one sheet per wash. Don’t overcrowd the drum, clothes need space to move so the water and detergent can do their job.
4. Drying the Right Way
If you can avoid the tumble dryer, do. Air-drying protects the fabric and helps garments keep their shape. If you must tumble-dry, use a low heat setting and remove items while they’re still slightly damp to limit creasing.
5. The Finishing Touches
Shake garments out before drying, reshape knits while damp, and close buttons or zips before washing next time. These tiny habits have a surprisingly big impact.
Wash with intention, not force. A gentler routine keeps your garments looking their best and supports a more sustainable wardrobe.
